to honor God as faithful stewards.

Giving As Worship.

Giving is God-honoring, open-handed, generous, responsible stewardship. (stewardship is the management, care, and oversight of resources which are entrusted by another to whom they properly “belong”). Because it is true that God is the source of all things, He is also the Giver and Sustainer of all things; both material, or immaterial so that everything we “have” is given to us by God - this makes all of our actions stewardship.

Worship is any activity, speech, purpose that ascribes worth to something or someone. When Stewardship is worship it is to give with a God-focused, God-centered, God-honoring purpose declaring: “God is worthy of this”.

So giving that is God-centered seeks to manage what we are entrusted with in way that is both pleasing to God and also points to Him as the highest priority and worthiest thing in our consideration. This is why giving from the heart is important. It’s not just about offering God something because it’s the “right thing to do” - it is set into the deeper truth:

what we treasure holds our heart, and where our hearts are - there our treasures follow.

Why Give?

  • Joy & Generosity

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

  • God is the Source

    Give because we have received.

  • We are Stewards

“…From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

  • The Gospel

Because it is a way to participate in the mission of the Gospel - locally, and globally.

  • Little, Is Much

God doesn’t ask us to supply everything, he asks us to bring what we have: A boy’s lunch, a widow’s mite - God uses.

  • Bearing Burdens

Because the local body of believers contributes in all ways to the support and flourishing of the whole.

 FAQs

  • LUMA approaches finances by treating all donations as an amount entrusted to the church for administration and distribution.

For this reason we do not have specific or distinct funds to designate individual giving. All donations go to the general fund for distribution according to the projected yearly budget or as needed.

We do periodically create special funds for a particular need, or item, and in those instances we ask that a particular donation be marked if it is for that special fund.

  • We don’t request or desire for you to borrow to give. Thus giving on a credit card vs. giving on credit are different concepts. Electronic giving using a credit card makes giving accessible and secure and we are happy to be able to offer this. However, going in to debt to give would not be wise or faithful in the stewardship of the resources God has given you.

  • We keep a record of all donations in a donor profile. You will receive a statement at the end of the year from the church, for your tax records.

  • We hold a business meeting which is open for anyone to attend. In the meeting the financial reports are read and reviewed as well as the projected budget presentation for the coming year. If you would like a copy of the budget or more information between meetings please contact business@lumabible.org

  • Absolutely. We have a "giving box” secured in the back of the worship center. Cash, and cheque are welcome. Please make them payable to LUMA Bible Church. There are envelopes available so that you can receive and accurate giving record for taxes.
